Helen Eleanora DeCrans, 85, of Fargo died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo.
She was born Dec. 13, 1921 to John and Martha (Przbyszeski) Lukach in Noonan, ND. She graduated from Noonan High School and attended nursing school in Minot. She was a registered nurse in Noonan and St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot. She also was a member of the Army Nurse Cadet Corps.
She married Alfonse DeCrans Oct. 2, 1945 in Noonan. They farmed in Pembina, ND for nine years before moving to New Rockford. In 1965, they moved to Park Rapids and she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital and did home health care. They moved to Fargo in 2004.
She was a lifetime member of the American Legion, DAV Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. In January 1967, she attended the first Woman's Cursillo in Fargo and she continued as a leader.
She is survived by her husband; children, Sister Maura DeCrans of Fargo, Father Joe of Frazee, Jack (Mayren) of Fridley, Robert (Mary) of Nevis, William and Jim (Marilyn), both of Moorhead, Tom of Cottage Grove, Dan (Michelle) of Nevis, Carol (Dave) Becker of Park Rapids, Jeanne (Jeff) Garber of Billings, MT, Bernadette (Dan) Stephenson of St. Cloud, Rose (Dana) Wolf of Bowman, ND and Teresa (Dave) Vaske of Marshfield, WI; brother, Steve (Katharine) of Minot; 35 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Helen Lauria DeCrans; daughter-in-law, Kathryn DeCrans; four brothers, Frank, Joe, Father John and Daniel; and three sisters, Susan Cannon, Margaret Sagaser and Rose Wilhelm.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral mass.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
Burial: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
