One person was injured Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 34 in Park Rapids.
According to police chief Terry Eilers, Terry Bliss, 50, was westbound on Highway 34 when he ran the red light at County Road 6, also known as Henrietta Avenue, and struck a Suzuki compact car driven by Michelle Daily, 48, that was southbound on Henrietta. The impact pushed her car into a third vehicle driven by Constance Shubert, 74, which was facing eastbound in the intersection.
Fire department officials were called to use the jaws of life to extract Daily, who suffered cuts and bruises requiring stitches, Eilers said.
Bliss was cited for driving through the signal.
Eilers said he told officers at the scene he was shading his eyes from sunlight and couldn't see the light.

Daily, a Hubbard County dispatcher, was treated and released from St. Joseph's Area Hospital, Eilers said. The other two drivers were not injured. The accident occurred just before 5 p.m.
