Logan and Sarah Hanisch have opened a small-engine repair and performance shop - H3 - on Co. Rd. 115, three miles west of Park Rapids, aided by "test driver" Morgan, 3.

"She's part of the business," dad said, the H3 name derived from the family partnership - pre-arrival of daughter Jordyn.

Logan, a 2000 Park Rapids graduate, headed to Minnesota State Community and Technical College-Detroit Lakes where he earned certificates in outdoor power equipment and snowmobile technology

He provides service and performance work for all major power sports brands - snowmobiles, ATVs, dirt bikes, chainsaws, lawnmowers, street bikes and personal watercraft. And he'll add accessories.

H3 also sells used and consignment equipment and "parts for everything."

Logan's background includes three years at Park Rapids Outdoor Power as a certified Polaris mechanic, completing warranty work on Polaris, Ski-Doo, Yamaha, Honda, John Deere, Tecumseh and Briggs and Stratton.

He headed north to work at the Polaris factory in Roseau, where he designed motors.

But a desire to "be my own boss" sent him back to Park Rapids.

"Now I'm home," he said.

Sarah serves as bookkeeper and parts manager.

Logan anticipates Morgan, who has her own snowmobile and ATV, will be cleaning the carburetor on her sled when she's 5.

"She wants to be a professional snowmobile racer," he said of his daughter's aspirations.

The shop is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Logan also has a mobile shop to complete work on site. He offers pick-up and delivery service.
