Jon Gunkel caught three touchdown passes and Nevis' defense forced four turnovers as the Tigers ended the regular season with a 20-14 Great Northern West Conference 9-man football victory at Northome-Kelliher last Tuesday night.
Gunkel caught TD passes of 31 yards and 78 yards in the first quarter and added a 10-yard TD reception in the second quarter as Nevis carried a 20-14 lead into the half.
Nevis' defense then held Northome-Kelliher scoreless in the second half as the Tigers improved to 4-2 against conference opponents and a 4-4 overall.
Chad Schmidt completed 8 of 13 passes for 201 yards with Gunkel tallying 119 yards and Anthony Prendiz catching five passes for 82 yards.
Michael Eskelson rushed 17 times for 49 yards and Michael Stine had five carries for 39 yards.

Defensively, the Tigers forced four turnovers with Chris Gooch, Casey Charmoli, Prendiz and Garrett Annexstad recovering fumbles. Eskelson had 14 solo tackles and seven assists while Brandon Daniels had seven solo tackles and two quarterback sacks.
