Grant Harmon Harvala, 22, of Park Rapids died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident west of Osage Sunday morning, April 29, 2007.
He was born Dec. 22, 1984 to Gary and Deanna (Riddle) Harvala of Park Rapids. He graduated from Park Rapids Area High School with the Class of 2003.
He played second base and outfield on the school baseball team. After graduation, he worked in construction, installing drywall and doing general carpentry work. He competed as a state finalist chess player in St. Paul in 2003.
Surviving are his parents; sister, Ashley of Park Rapids; and maternal grandmother, Dorothy Snow of Park Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Irene Harvala; maternal grandfather, Cameron Riddle; and his maternal stepgrandfather, Larry Snow.

Visitation: 5 to 8 tonight (Wednesday) at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Rev. Loren Ferch officiating. Pastor Ferch also will provide the special music.
Casketbearers: Gary Ussery, Jeff Kucera, Joe Bracken, Kyle Thomas, Donavan Sigmundik and Toymel McGlonn.
Interment: Harvala family plot at the Pickeral Lake Cemetery near Wolf Lake.
