In response to Governor Tim Walz’s Emergency Executive Order 20-20 directing Minnesotans to stay at home, Akeley Mayor Brian Hitchcock announced Wednesday that city hall, which also serves as the city’s senior center, will be closed to the public until further notice.

Staff will still be available via phone at 218-652-2465 during the new modified business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for any questions or needs.

Utility payments can be made in the dropbox to the right of the door at the entrance to city hall, online via the city website ( or over the phone during normal business hours.

“Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in these uncertain times,” Hitchcock said.
