Akeley City Hall will remain open to the public.
“As for now, we’re going to keep the hours the same as they’ve been,” Mayor Brian Hitchcock said Thursday.
The council asked senior citizens to stop meeting in the city building. The next council meeting isn’t scheduled for three weeks, so they are waiting to see what is happening at that point to decide if they will meet in person or by telephone or some other means, according to Hitchcock. Updates will be posted on the city website.
The municipal liquor store is only open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with takeout only.
“I come home at night and it looks like a ghost town,” Hitchcock said.
Any citizen of the city or township who needs help finding resources can call the city office at 652-2465.
