Gladys Lillian Lindroos, 83, of Menahga, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at Margaret S. Parmly Residence in Chisago City.

She was born Jan. 7, 1925 in Wilton, N.D. to Alfred and Martha (Jensen) Peterson. She attended country school in the Sherwood and Mohall, N.D. area.

In 1942, she married William Miller.

She was a waitress, helped demolish a pickle factory, cleaned barns, worked in the harvest fields, put up firewood and numerous other tasks.

In 1958, she married John William Lindroos in Sebeka.

The last 12 years of her working career were spent at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga from where she retired in 1990.

She was a member of the Menahga Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are her three daughters, Melinda (Joseph) Taylor of Edina, Donna (Larry) Petersen of Stacy and Debra Lindroos of St. Paul; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Alice Kyrola of Menahga; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Lindroos; two brothers, Irvin and Melvin and her sister, Mary.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 at Menahga Assembly of God Church with Rev. Robert Smith officiating.

Honorary casket bearers: Her grandson, Damon Taylor who is currently on a ship heading home from Iraq and her granddaughter, Tamyra Calahan.

Casket bearers: Her grandchildren, Daniel, Justin and Aaron Taylor, Brent Petersen, Jeff and Crystal Edwards, Jessica Lindroos, Lana Doerr, Natalie Morrison, and great-granddaughter, Natasha McGraw.
