VIRGINIA, Minn. - Authorities say a Gilbert man earned the distinction as the drunkest driver caught on Minnesota roadways on Super Bowl Sunday.
David Keith Besemann, 37, allegedly registered a 0.33 percent blood-alcohol content - more than four times the legal limit - when he was arrested just after noon Sunday in Virginia.
Across Minnesota the number of DWI arrests dropped dramatically on Super Bowl Sunday to 65. down from an average of 190 between 2010-2014.
Virginia police said Besemann crashed his vehicle into a parked car/ The owner of the parked car reported the accident, but Besemann was nowhere to be found at the time, police said.
A police officer found several documents in the car with Besemann’s name, before he was located a short time later about a block away. According to a police report, Besemann admitted that he was drunk, but denied driving the car and said that it had been stolen.

Minnesota court records indicate that Besemann has two DWI convictions since 2010 and is still on probation in one case.
