Genevieve Mattson, 85, of Atwater died Friday, Jan. 18 in Atwater.
She was born Nov. 6, 1922 to Peter and Ethel Kavanagh of Nevis. She was raised and educated in Nevis. She worked at the TB sanatorium (Ah-Gwah-Ching) in Walker.
She married Russell Mattson and they moved to Willmar. She moved to Sunnyview assisted living in Atwater in 2005.
She is survived by her children, Stephen (Diane) of Columbia Heights, Mary (David) Heen of Clara City, Susan Cantor and James, both of St. Louis Park, Anne (John) Nelson of Elk River, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, seven siblings, grandson Jeff and son-in-law Tony.
