A 6-year-old rural Frazee boy suffered a scare, but no serious injuries, when he was hit and dragged a short distance by a car backing up in a driveway.

Kyler Cole Mayfield, son of Josh and Jacinta Mayfield, was hit by a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am that was backing up to attach a two-wheeled ATV trailer.

Kyler was behind the car, bent over pushing a small trailer. He was out of the view of the driver, Chad Mayfield, 21, of Fargo, who said he felt the car hit something and stopped almost immediately. Mayfield said he thought he knew where the three boys were and it was safe to back up.

Kyler was taken by private vehicle to St. Mary's Innovis hospital, where he was treated for abrasions and released.

The accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at a residence on the 12000 block of 358th St. in Silver Leaf Township.
