- A former Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office deputy faces new felony charges related to sexual contact with a child. Aaron Joseph Heuer, 29, of Isle, Minn., was charged this week in Otter Tail County District Court with one count of first degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged incidents involved inappropriate sexual contact with a nine year old boy at Heuer’s home in Mille Lacs County in June 2009; an additional incident was alleged to have taken place involving the same victim at Lutheran Island Camp in Henning in Otter Tail County.

Heuer was charged in July with five felony counts related to alleged sexual contact with four other male victims, ages 8-10, at the camp in June 2013. Heuer volunteered as a fishing guide at the camp. Additional incidents are alleged to have taken place with two of the victims on a separate fishing trip in Aitkin County that was unrelated to the camp. Investigators believe Heuer knew all of the victims prior to the incidents.

Heuer was terminated from his position with Mille Lacs County in July 2013. He is currently in the Otter Tail County Jail.

BCA agents are conducting the investigation with assistance from the Mille Lacs, Kanabec, Otter Tail and Aitkin County sheriff’s offices and the Aitkin and Kanabec County attorney’s offices. The case is being prosecuted by the Otter Tail County Attorney’s Office.
