Park Rapids downtown construction continues to be on schedule after good weather this past week.
Second Street curb and gutters will be poured next week, followed by sidewalks. No foot traffic will be allowed on the sidewalks while they are curing, said project superintendent Jeff Wipper.
As Memorial Day weekend approaches, some of the decorations will be placed on the light poles. Banners and flower baskets will be added this week.
Some questions were asked about the sidewalks on Main Avenue that were poured last fall. The cracks were originally going to be cut differently to add a different look. It has since been decided they will likely be left the way they are because the extra cuts would create more dust. Also, it could cause problems for snow removal in the winter.
Additional granite inlays will be delivered this week and installed. Finishing work is being discussed, said city administrator Bill Smith.

Benches, trash cans and bicycle racks are still on the way but should be delivered soon. Crews will be installing them soon after they are delivered.
Weekly construction meetings will be held at 8 a.m. Thursdays at Bella Caffé. The next meeting is Thursday, May 26.
