A Fargo man arrested Wednesday in connection with the seizure of 14 pounds of marijuana had posted bail three days earlier on other drug charges.

Hector Lieonel Flores, 31, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an estimated $14,000 of marijuana with the intent to deliver.

Another law enforcement agency notified Fargo police Wednesday morning that a large quantity of marijuana was en route to Fargo.

Officers intercepted the package from a local shipping company in Fargo. The package was to be delivered to 2610 15th St. S. in Fargo, where police arrested Flores.

"We periodically see shipments of marijuana that come into the city," said Sgt. Ross Renner. "Generally those packages are five to 10 pounds. This is a little bit more than we normally see."

Flores has a number of other arrests in Fargo, Renner said.

He has drug charges pending in Cass County District Court, including one Class B felony.

Flores was charged in Clay County District Court in connection with a March assault involving a man who was beaten while standing at a urinal at Chumley's bar in Moorhead.

The seized marijuana was the lower of two grades seen in Fargo by police and has an estimated value of $1,000 a pound. The higher grade is worth four times that amount.

Police do not believe the case is related to any ongoing investigations in Fargo and remains under investigation.

"At this time I don't have any information indicating that our drug crimes are increasing at all," Renner said.
