Police say a man and his teenage accomplice were caught burglarizing a south Fargo garage early Monday.

An officer on bike patrol noticed a teenage male who appeared to be communicating with someone inside the garages at 2701 32nd Ave. S., Fargo police Sgt. Mark Lykken said.

While talking to the teen, the officer heard noises inside a garage that led him to believe a crime was being committed, Lykken said. The man inside didn't want to come out, and he was arrested as he exited a different garage door, Lykken said.

Cory Michael Cartney, 36, and a 17-year-old male, both from Fargo, were arrested on suspicion of burglary. Cartney was taken to the Cass County Jail, and the teen was taken to Cass County juvenile detention.

The incident was one of several burglaries over the weekend in Fargo, including one reported Sunday at the Dakota Boys Ranch on Fourth Avenue North in which the suspect tried unsuccessfully to remove a safe, Lykken said.
