Itasca State Park, headwaters of the Mississippi, has many great opportunities to explore nature this Aug. and Sep.
On Aug. 14, from 7-8:30 p.m., Itasca's Music Under the Pines will be featuring Craig Willis inside the Forest Inn.
Outdoor Kids: Lake Life (seining net) will be held on Aug. 14, from 1:30-3 p.m. by the beach/playground area.
On Aug. 16th there will be a Pack-a-Snack Story Hike titled "Gone Fishing" by Earlene Long and Richard Brown from 10:30-11 p.m. at the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center.
Aug. 17 there will be Circle Time Under the Pines: M is for Monarchs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., meet at the Museum Amphitheater.

On Aug. 18, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. for grades 3-9 as well as teachers, there will be Digital Photography Bridge to Nature: Teacher's and Student Workshop.
Outdoor Kids: The Good, Bad and Ugly Invaders in Lakes will be held Aug. 18, from 1:30-3 p.m. by the beach/playground area of the park.
Itasca's Music Under the Pines featuring Basement Brass will be held at the Forest Inn Aug. 20, from 7-8 p.m.
Canoe the Mississippi River Water Trail: Co. 25 to Lake Andrusia Aug. 20, starting at 10 a.m.
Pack-a-Snack Story Hike features a story titled "How to Hide A Butterfly and Other Insects" by Ruth Heller from 10:30-11 p.m.
Circle Time Under the Pines: L is for Leaves will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Museum Amphitheater Aug. 24.
Itasca's Music Under the Pines will feature The Holker Family on Aug. 26, from 7-8 p.m. inside the Forest Inn.
The 5th Annual North Country Hiking Fest will be held Aug. 27 all day featuring family friendly activities along the National North Country Trail. Food and children's activities will be available along the course.

Itasca's Music Under the Pines featuring Alabaster Falls will be held Aug. 28, from 7-9 p.m. at the Forest Inn.
Aug. 30 there will be a Pack-a-Snack Story Hike with a story titled "Around the Pond: Who's Been Here?" by Lindsay Barrett George from 10:30-11 a.m. at the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center.
Circle Time Under the Pines: U is for Underground will be held Aug. 31, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Museum Amphitheater for children 2-5 years-old.
Sep. 4 there will be a program for Itasca's Music Under the Pines featuring Jim and Molly Bauer with their tastefully unique style of music.
On Sep. 10, a concert inside the Forest Inn will be held featuring Rebecca Lee for Itasca's Music Under the Pines from 7-8:30 p.m.
Enjoy a lantern-lit walk down the trail on Sep. 24 from 6-8:30 p.m. during the 4th Annual Autumn Harvest Festival.
Itasca has a swimming beach, fishing boats, pontoon boats, canoes and kayaks available, hiking and biking trails, bicycle rental, lake/river access, fishing boat motors available and a playground.

Directions: 21 miles north of Park Rapids on U.S. Highway 71. From Bemidji the park is 30 miles south on U.S. Highway 71.
