Itasca State Park events start Memorial Day weekend and run through the fall.

Here's the schedule through June:

May 28

Exploring Itasca's wildflowers walk at 3 p.m. outside the Forest Inn.

Loons, Lady Slippers, Blueberry Muffins and More! Minnesota State Symbols Campfire will be at 7 p.m. at the Museum Amphitheater (below Wegmann's Cabin).

May 29

Music Under the Pines with Alabaster Falls runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Forest Inn. Enjoy the folk-grass sounds of this local trio.

5 Facts in 5 Minutes- What's in the Pond? Runs from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Headwaters.

Curious Kids: X Marks the Spot! Runs from 4:30 to 5 p.m. at the Bear Paw Campground by the old pump house (tiny log building). Make and take home your very own treasure map.

June 11

24th Annual Ozawindib Walk. Sponsored by Friends of Itasca State Park, the Ozawindib Walk commemorates Ozawindib, the Ojibwe guide who lead Henry R. Schoolcraft to the Headwaters of the Mississippi River in 1832. Following the hike, participate in a variety of family fun activity stations. Activities suitable for all ages during this family friendly event!

June 12

4th Annual Picnic in the Park, 12: 30 to 3 p.m. Come out for an afternoon of food and old-fashioned outdoor fun. Throughout the day, enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation stations, games and more! Children of all ages can participate during this family friendly afternoon. The Park Rapids Community Band will be performing from 2-3 p.m. Bring your picnic lunch and picnic blanket or lawn chair and join us in celebrating 120 years of a picnicking and camping tradition in Itasca State Park. Or purchase grilled hot dogs, chips and pop if you forgot your picnic basket. Event held in the picnic grounds.

June 15

Circle Time Under the Pines: D is for Deer, runs from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. by the Museum Amphitheater (Look for a large blanket underneath a big pine tree), below Wegmann's Store, (in the lakeside museum if raining). Children 2-5 years old, come explore and have fun at Itasca as we learn about deer through stories, songs, crafts, and outdoor discovery.

June 19

Itasca's Music Under the Pines featuring Eric Bervig, is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. inside the Jacob V. Brower Center. Enjoy the music of Park Rapid's own Eric Bervig as he performs on acoustic guitar.

June 22

Circle Time Under the Pines: Q is for Quacking runs from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. by the Museum Amphitheater (Look for a large blanket underneath a big pine tree), below Wegmann's Store, (in the lakeside museum if raining).

Tots on the Heartland Trail runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Heartland State Trail in Heartland Park in Park Rapids. Come along on a Stroller Strut on the Heartland Trail with a Minnesota State Parks and Trails Naturalist. Young children (tots- ages 5 and under), walking shoes, and a stroller is all that is needed as we will be exploring the trail using our senses. This week, we will be using our eyes as we look at all the fun things in nature we can see along the trail.
