Enrollment numbers at Century School and Park Rapids Area High School look to be up slightly or on par with last year.
Century School principal Bruce Gravalin said more than 1,000 children are anticipated to arrive when the first bell rings Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Kindergartners are expected to number 122, in five classes. There will be four classes of first graders and second graders (with 109 and 110 students, respectively) and five classes for third and fourth graders (with 121 and 124 students anticipated, respectively).
Class sizes range from 23 to 28 but Gravalin said, "the numbers are deceiving" because of paraprofessionals and "Title" teachers. "Kindergarten through fourth grade students will receive plenty of individual attention."
Middle school numbers are expected to be similar to last year with 118 students projected in fifth grade, 103 students in sixth, 99 in seventh and 113 in eighth grade.

The building will be ready, Gravalin assured school board members, referring to the water damage in the fourth grade pod.
Breakfast and lunch prices will be up slightly, the board approving a 10- cent increase for students, a 15-cent bump in the price for adults.
A back-to-school open house/orientation has been scheduled Thursday, Sept. 3, to be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. for Century School students and parents and at 6 p.m. for high school enrollees.
