This year's Pine Point Traditional Powwow will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 12, 13 and 14, one-half mile west of the Pine Point School in Ponsford. Ponsford is north/west of Park Rapids.
Friday's events start off with a demolition derby at 5 p.m.
On Sunday there will be a 5K walk/run at 8:30 a.m., flag raising at 10 a.m., grand entry at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and a feast at 5 p.m.
There will be American Indian dancing and singing throughout the weekend. All drummers and dancers are welcome. The Princess and Brave contest will also be held during the weekend. The girl and boy chosen will represent the Pine Point community at other powwows and special events throughout the year.
Family flags of veterans are welcome to fly all weekend. Mickey Hodges will serve as emcee with Butch Roberts as arena director and spiritual advisor Mike Swan.

Camping with showers is available on the grounds. Native food and craft stands will also be set up throughout the grounds. No alcohol, drugs or colors are allowed. Security is provided.
The powwow is free and open to the public. Some seating will be available, but guests are urged to bring their own chairs.
