Kennedy Bera of Park Rapids visits the Easter Bunny. The seven-month-old seemed quite content in those furry arms.

As the siren wailed at precisely 1 p.m. Saturday, an estimated 1,000 children made a mad dash through Muskie Park for the Nevis Easter Egg Hunt.

In a matter of minutes, they gathered the roughly 15,000 eggs that lined Heartland Trail.

The 16th annual event saw temperatures in the mid-60s and partial sun - a welcome departure from last year's bitter cold and snow.

Brian and Sara Halik organize the event each year, sponsored by the Nevis Fire Department and Nevis Civic & Commerce Association, with support from local businesses and community members for this Easter weekend tradition.

In addition to the candy, bicycles and prizes were given away.
