Top priorities for the district are a leaking roof over the small gym and replacing the air handler for the woodshop/sensory room. These near-term needs require a change to the fiscal year 2022 LTFM plan.
The small gym roof has been leaking in the area near the east door. Superintendent Gregg Parks said they are looking into possible warranty coverage.
Herzog Roofing recommended an entire roof replacement, since it has been compromised, he said. They plan to come inspect the roof this fall. A new one-person lift is also needed since the current lift is too heavy for the gym floor.
District revenues for fiscal year 2022 are expected to be $236,877 and expenses are estimated at $229,900.
LTFM funds are a combination of aid and levy to allow the district to focus on the physical plant of the school without using revenues focused on educational programming. The school board must annually approve the LTFM plan for the next 10 years.
The district building committee met in May and developed the 10-year plan based on expected needs and a “best guess” of needs going into the future.
For planning purposes, 2030 will have estimated revenues of $261,090 with estimated expenditures of $249,500.
In other action the board:
Accepted the resignation of special education teacher Doris Hall. “She has been an outstanding teacher working with us over the past year and has accepted a position to work in the same district as her spouse,” Parks said.
Accepted the resignation of educational assistant Roseanne Lueck. “She has been a dedicated part of our elementary and pre-K for 19 years,” Parks said. “We wish her well in retirement.”
Approved a quote from Vaaler Insurance. The negotiated price is a $9,471 reduction in the overall premium for 2021-22 as compared to last year – at a total cost of $85,062. Vaaler had previously used Wright Specialty as the primary insurer. This year an application was made through Employees Mutual Casualty Insurance Company (EMC). That bid identified savings in property, general liability, auto and educators liability Insurance.
Accepted a $500 donation to the softball activity account from American Legion Post 212.
Heard Michael Murray has been hired as a new custodian with the district.
The next school board meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, July 26 in the media center and on Zoom.
