Century School’s kindergarten graduation was divided into two ceremonies Thursday, May 27 for social distancing purposes.
Approximately 120 students received their diplomas from kindergarten teachers Emilee Edelman, Jennifer Michaelson, Kimberly Lembcke, Meghan Eidsmoe, Rachel Bedel, Rebecca Penning and distance learning teacher Amy Moors.
“Our students have been working so hard this year,” said Principal Mike LeMier. “They’ve grown physically – they’re a lot taller now – and academically, as well. We’re all so proud of them.”
He thanked parents for their love, support and encouragement.
Music teacher Kirsten Edevold led both groups of kindergartners in a series of musical numbers the children chose for themselves. These included the “We are PR” cheer, the “Thank You Song,” “Are you sleeping/Frere Jaques” sung with help from the audience, “John the Rabbit” with the accompaniment of Boomwhackers, the sign language son “The Day I Was Born” and the sight words song “I Like Me.”
Later in each ceremony, the kids walked, ran, skipped and in one case jumped across the gym floor to accept their diplomas from their teachers with handshakes, hugs and high-fives.
