Park Rapids Area High School hosted a spring meet-and-greet on Friday, May 7 to help rising freshmen prepare for their transition to high school.
Eighth graders spent half a day at the high school, meeting teachers in each department while participating in fun activities and touring the school.
Groups were led by high school student mentors, who answered eighth graders’ questions and showed them the school from a student’s perspective.
The day concluded with a scavenger hunt, where students got to explore the high school on their own and familiarize themselves with their future teachers.
Survey results from the day show that 88.9 percent of students feel “somewhat comfortable” to “very comfortable” with the transition to high school after the May 7 event, up nearly 25 percent from before the event.
