Nevis School’s Truth in Taxation Hearing that was originally scheduled to take place at the regular Dec. 16 school board meeting had to be moved to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23 because that was the date listed on statements sent to taxpayers in the district. The hearing will be held in the school media center.
Districts are required to discuss their levy and current year budget and allow for public input prior to adopting the final levy, which must be done no later than Dec. 27.
At the September school board meeting, the preliminary 2020 levy was approved at the maximum level.
Superintendent Gregg Parks said he is recommending the board certify the levy at $1,129,712.61 for the 2019 payable 2020 levy.
