Park Rapids High School Principal Jeff Johnson shared details Monday with the school board about ninth-grade orientation planned for the first day of the 2019-20 school year.
Johnson said the day will start with some movement to get the kids relaxed. Then, alternating groups will hear a discussion of student expectations and Panther Tracks in the auditorium while the other half of the class explores informational booths in the commons.
After a picnic lunch, he said, “We have some serious time in the afternoon. It’s a lot about building relationships.”
This will include discussions about bullying, belonging and accepting other people, he said.
“Then, we end with a scavenger hunt to really find their way around the high school,” said Johnson. “The wrap-up is going to be about ‘What’s your story? How is your story going to look as you start at the high school? What do you expect over the next four years?’ Then, leaving on a fun note.”
