Earl James Kjos Jr., 42, of Butte, Mont., formerly of Waubun, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 in Butte.
He was born Sept. 9, 1966 in Detroit Lakes to Earl James Sr. and Cheryl (Pederson) Kjos. He grew up in the Waubun area where he attended school.
He married Margaret Kako and the couple made their home in Park Rapids. They had one daughter.
He later moved back to the Mahnomen area where he worked as a cashier at Shooting Star Casino. Over the years, he had several jobs including driving truck, logging, working in a factory and remodeling houses. In July of 2008, he went to Butte, Mont. and worked on cell phone towers.
He is survived by a daughter, Jenifer, of Greenville, N.C.; parents, Earl Sr. and Cheryl, of Waubun; one brother, Mark, of Waubun; one sister, Lori Amundsen, of Fridley; two nephews; one niece; and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral service: Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Lake Grove Lutheran Church, rural Waubun, with Pastor Chad Peterson officiating.
Casket bearers: Dave Kertscher, Michael Litzau, Vincent Sura, Tim Kako, Allen Korinta and Jason Spencer.
Interment: Lake Grove Lutheran Cemetery, rural Waubun.
