Dorothy Mae Rice, 90, of Park Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids.

She was born to Henry and Mary (Henrichs) Hamm June 6, 1918 in Bertha, where she attended school. She married Edward Rice on Aug. 1, 1935. They had seven children. The couple made their home in rural Nevis. She worked at Munsingware and Ringer Company for many years as a machine operator. After retirement she and her husband began reupholstering furniture from their home, venture they continued for many years. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Park Rapids.

She is survived by seven children: Julia (Loren) Avenson of Nevis, Larry (Connie) of Park Rapids, Mary (Bob) Goochey of Park Rapids, Sharon (Garald) Edwards of Nevis, Phyllis (Ralph) Sutton of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Dale (Ardell) of Park Rapids, and Kimberly (Palmer) Larsen of Nevis; 31 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1992; one sister and five brothers.

Funeral service: A private family service will be held.

Interment: Lemon Cemetery near Akeley.
