Donald Malcolm Biggin Sr., 91, of Excelsior died Saturday, June 3, 2006 at the Excelsior Care Center.

He was born April 23, 1915 to Ernest Royal and Isadora Ruth (McMunn) Biggin in Minneapolis. He graduated from North High School in Minneapolis in 1933. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and worked in several Minnesota camps including Sawbill Trail Camp on the Northshore. He attended one year at Wheaton College in Illinois.

He married Mabel Emma Bushy April 24, 1936 in Minneapolis. He worked for D.W. Onan Generator Co. from 1940 to 1955. In 1948, they moved to Akeley. In the 1950s he ran a welding and blacksmith shop in Akeley. They owned Spring Bay Farm Campground on 11th Crow Wing Lake for 10 years. They spent 10 winters at Black Canyon City, AZ. He has lived at Excelsior Nursing Home for one and a half years.

He was a member of Akeley United Methodist Church in the summer and the Fourth Baptist Church in Plymouth in the winter.

He is survived by two children, Donald "Mal" Jr. (Joanne) of Akeley and Roberta (Lyle) Seefeldt of Glencoe; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 1988; two sisters, Dorothy and Ruth Robey; and brother, Stanley.

Funeral: Thursday, June 8 at Akeley United Methodist Church in Akeley with Gary Walpole officiating.

Honorary casketbearers: Neil Gotschall IV, Matthew Seefeldt and Megan Strandlie.

Active casketbearers: Douglas Biggin, Lyle Seefeldt, David and Zachery Strandlie, Brian England and Dan Larson

Interment: Akeley City Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Akeley United Methodist Church Building Fund.
