A dog caused a three-car accident in Grand Forks late Saturday night that slightly injured one person, according to police.

The three cars in the minor pileup were damaged.

The dog? Gone, apparently unharmed.

According to police, it started at 11:30 p.m. Saturday when a 17-year-old male driving a black Chevy Cavalier on the 1700 block of DeMers Avenue, about four blocks west of Washington Street, stopped rather quickly to avoid a dog standing in the roadway.

A 19-year-old woman driving an orange Plymouth Neon behind the Cavalier apparently slowed after seeing the first car stop.

A third car, a gray Ford Contour driven by an 18-year-old woman, slammed into the back of the Neon, which then slammed into the back of the Cavalier.

The driver of the Cavalier, which had stopped for the dog, was taken by a private party to Altru Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

It's all still under investigation by the police department.
