Jay Thomas Moher, 50, of 1208 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime.
According to court records:
On Oct. 15, he obtained a prescription for the painkiller Lorcet from a MeritCare clinic doctor after passing himself off as a patient with a fake name who suffered from serious back pain.
Lorcet contains the narcotic hydrocodone and acetaminophen.
He appeared Friday before District Judge Joe Evans, who stayed imposition of sentence for five years and placed him on supervised probation.

He was ordered to serve 30 days in jail and was fined $1,000 plus court fees. He can do community service work in lieu of the fine.
He was ordered to get a new chemical use assessment as determined by his probation officer; take medications only as prescribed; and have a mental health evaluation.
