DETROIT LAKES, Minn. - Police here arrested three people after a woman was assaulted and robbed in her motel room Tuesday, and a teenage boy was arrested in connection with a separate home invasion a short time later.
The first incident was reported at 1:14 p.m. at the Pine to Palm Motel. The callers reported that two people had forced open a motel room door.
Authorities arrived and took three suspects into custody. One of them had fled on foot but was quickly caught in the 1200 block of Summit Avenue, according to a news release from Detroit Lakes Police Chief Tim Eggebraaten.
The victim had been assaulted and some items were taken from her room during the assault. She had scrapes and bruises and declined medical treatment, Eggebraaten stated.
Police arrested Michael Dwayne Croud, 30, of Ponsford, Heather Marie Wichern, 20, of Frazee, and Nathanial Lee Simon, 20, of Callaway, and took them to the Becker County Jail.

The second incident was reported at 2:31 p.m. in the 800 block of Shorewood Drive, where a 16-year-old boy allegedly entered a home and took a duffel bag that he had filled with items from the garage.
The female homeowner, who didn't know the teen, confronted him and he left, the release stated.
The homeowner followed the teen and directed officers to the location where she had last seen him. He was arrested and taken to jail and later transported to juvenile detention in Moorhead.
The Becker County Attorney's Office is reviewing both incidents for possible charges, and both remain under investigation.
The Becker County Sheriff's Office assisted the Detroit Lakes Police Department on both calls, and the Minnesota State Patrol also responded to the motel incident.
