Detroit Lakes Police Chief Kel Keena has submitted his resignation, and with regret, the council accepted it Tuesday evening.

The chief will be retiring as of July 15, which is Keena's 15-year anniversary as chief in Detroit Lakes.

"After nearly 30 years of law enforcement service, I have decided it is time for a change," Keena said in a letter to the council. "I have enjoyed my association with the City of Detroit Lakes and am humbled to have had the opportunity to serve such a wonderful community."
