A Detroit Lakes man was sentenced to prison Monday in Becker County District Court on one count of first-degree controlled substance crime-conspiracy to manufacture.
James Edward Carr, Jr., 45, of 313 Woodcrest Blvd., Detroit Lakes, was ordered to serve four years, eight months in state prison on the charge. He was also fined $190, to be taken from his prison earnings. A second felony count of possession of substances with intent to manufacture was dismissed.
On Oct. 2, 2008, police officers assisting with a probation search of the residence he shared with Tammy Ann Bakke allegedly found a clear plastic baggie containing 180 unpackaged pseudoephedrine tablets, purchased from Kmart and Wal-Mart in Detroit Lakes on multiple occasions over a several month period. The tablets are commonly used to make meth.
