Dean Robert Johnson, 79, of Park Rapids died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at his home of pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born July 15, 1928 in Los Angeles to Marshall and Eileen Johnson. He graduated from high school in Pasadena, CA. At age 21, he enlisted in the US Air Force. He spent one and a half years in Japan with a short period in Korea.
He married Wannie Johnson in November 1952. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. He taught in Peru, South America and in San Bernardino, CA. They bought a home on Little Sand Lake in 1968 and retired there in 1987.
He was a lifetime member of Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post 212. He was also a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Julie (Don) Stitt of Cedar; son, Tom (Kristi) of Riverside, CA; brother, Marshall (Del) of Newport Beach, CA; four grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at Calvary Lutheran Church.
