Darrell Ray Werner, 80, of Lake George died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.

He was born June 24, 1927 in Derrick, ND, the son of Reuben and Olive (Krogfoss) Werner. He moved with his father to Lake George where he was raised and educated. He moved to Minneapolis and worked at Scott-Atwater Outboard Motors as a machinist for four years.

On May 9, 1953, he married Carol Ruth Hubert in Lamberton. They moved to Chokio, where he farmed for three years. They moved back to Minneapolis and he worked as a carpenter. Then they moved to Hastings where they lived for more than 25 years. He worked for Hastings Construction and Kraus-Anderson and also was a glazer for Gordy's Glass in Hastings. They moved to Backus in 1994 and lived there for three years and then moved to Lake George and also had a winter home in Queen Creek, AZ.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Nancy Werner of Hastings and Patsy (Dan) Lane of Polk City, IA; one son, Dan of Jenkins; four sisters, June Gavanda of Backus, Hazel (Howie) Cembelast of Long Island, NY, Vera Lindenberg and Bernice Berg of Minneapolis; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donny.

Memorial service: Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George with Rev. Darwin Schauer officiating.

Honorary casket bearers: Jacob Lane, Zachary Werner, Bob Thomson, Paul and Jane Mueller and Manny Edelman.

Interment: following cremation at the Lamberton Cemetery.
