Cumber helps Rainy River claim ACHA national title

Park Rapids' Jackie Cumber helped the Rainy River Community College women's hockey team win the American Collegiate Hockey Association national title.

Cumber was named to the all-tournament team after helping the Voyageurs defeat the University of Minnesota Duluth 6-4 in the championship game March 11 in Bensenville, IL.

Rainy River opened tournament play with a 9-0 win over Bates College. Cumber led the Voyageurs with three goals and two assists in that win.

The Voyageurs followed with two more shutouts, blanking Dela-ware University 8-0 and Duluth 5-0. Cumber scored three goals and had two assists in those two wins.

Rainy River then capped off the national tournament by defeating Duluth in the title game.

The Voyageurs ended the season with a 20-2-2 record.
