Seven different players scored as Crookston defeated the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team last Thursday night at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.
Sophie Lien, Emily Meyer, Marlee Wheelhouse and Ashley Schmitz scored in the first period as Crook-ston built a 4-0 lead. Wheel-house scored on a power play. The Pirates held a 19-5 edge in shots in the opening period.
Park Rapids goalie Cassandra Thelen stopped 12 shots in the second period as neither team scored.
Goals by Jessica Broekemeier, Wheelhouse, Shannon Kaiser and Kailey Biermaier highlighted a four-goal third period for Crookston.
Thelen finished with 34 saves as the Panthers fell to 1-9 on the seventh. Park Rapids was shut out for the seventh time this season.

Crookston, which is ranked No. 6 in the latest state Class A poll, improved to 10-2 with its fourth shutout of the year.
The Panthers resume action by hosting Benson/Morris on Jan. 4.
