Several people have been arrested and face serious drug charges, following an investigation into heroin distribution on the White Earth Reservation.

More than 141 grams of meth, 38 grams of fentanyl and 31 grams of heroin were seized in the investigation, which was launched in July by the White Earth Police Department and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, according to a White Earth news release.

On Aug. 4, the Minnesota State Patrol assisted in the investigation and conducted a traffic stop on Wayne “Jumbo” Quinn, 44, of White Earth and Teisha Bigeagle, 31, of White Earth.

Quinn and Bigeagle were arrested for felony second-degree controlled substance crime – possession of 25 grams or more of cocaine or methamphetamine.

The investigation continued into the late hours and into the morning of Aug. 5, when a search warrant was executed in Detroit Lakes. That resulted in the arrest of Elston Williamson, 41, of Maplewood, Minn., on three felony first-degree drug charges involving sale or possession of heroin and other drugs.

Also arrested was Timothy Thigpen, 35, of Saint Paul on felony first- and third-degree drug charges involving sale and possession of heroin, and on a felony gun charge.

Also arrested during the investigation were Loyalty McCurty, 36, of Minneapolis on felony first-degree drug sales involving heroin, and Savanah Griffin, 23, of Minneapolis for felony first-degree drug sales involving cocaine or meth.

The arrests and seizures are the results of a multi-agency investigation, and more arrests are expected soon.

The White Earth Police Department was assisted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Detroit Lakes Police Department, Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, FBI Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force, West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Minnesota State Patrol.

In a separate news release, White Earth also announced several other drug-related arrests.

On July 14, shortly after 6 p.m., White Earth police executed a narcotics search warrant in rural Waubun, seizing fentanyl, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Christina Jackson, 32, and James Kier, 52, were arrested for felony third-degree sales and fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine. Donald Baity, 66 ,was arrested for fifth-degree meth possession and storing methamphetamine around children.

The White Earth Police Department was assisted by the Becker County Sheriff’s Office and the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force.

On July 21, White Earth police arrested Tonya Azure, 45, at her residence in White Earth. The tribal police department had conducted a month-long investigation, which resulted in Azure being arrested for third-degree sales of narcotics.

The White Earth Police Department was assisted by the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force.

On July 28, shortly after 8 a.m., White Earth police executed a narcotics search warrant at a rural Ogema residence, seizing methamphetamine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. Kathy Heisler, 39, of White Earth and Pete Thompson, 38, of White Earth were arrested for possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl and for storing meth around children.

The White Earth Police Department was assisted by the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force.

All offenses were forwarded to the Becker County Attorney’s Office for charges.
