Minnesota man facing rape charges in two counties
WILLMAR, Minn. – A Spicer man is in the Winona County Jail, held on $1 million bail for allegedly breaking into a woman’s home, raping her and threatening her child.
Zane Robert Pederson, 30, is accused of breaking into the Winona County home twice in mid-November. During the second break-in, while wearing a mask and carrying a gun, he allegedly entered the woman’s bedroom and raped her three times over several hours. He also allegedly threatened the woman with the gun and threatened to hurt her child, who was also in the home.
According to the criminal complaint, authorities were able to match Pederson’s DNA with DNA found at the scene.
The alleged sexual assault is reported to have occurred in the early morning hours of Nov. 18. Pederson is charged with seven felonies in connection: two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of first-degree burglary, kidnapping, false imprisonment and threats of violence.
A separate criminal complaint for a single count of felony second-degree burglary alleges that Pederson also entered the woman’s home the night of Nov. 16.
A criminal complaint has been filed in Kandiyohi County, alleging Pederson sexually assaulted a vulnerable adult in December. He has also been connected to that case by DNA he provided to Willmar police.
