FARGO -- The former general manager of a Fargo events center was reflective and apologetic as he was sentenced on Monday, Oct. 8, in Cass County District Court on charges of theft.

"I'm utterly and truly sorry," Richard Howard Pallay III told the court.

Pallay was sentenced to 360 days of supervised probation on one Class B felony count of theft for illegally obtaining more than $15,000 from Sanctuary Events Center.

Also as part of his sentence, Pallay must complete 150 hours of community service.

Pallay was general manager of the center when he stole the money. He pleaded guilty to the charge in August via an Alford plea, which means he acknowledged a jury would likely find him guilty based on the evidence.
