The Highway Patrol says blowing snow that stuck to Interstate 29 led to five accidents Friday that sent seven people to the hospital.
Authorities say no one was believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries, though supervisors at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks said some required surgery.
Patrol Sgt. Aaron Hummel says one of the crashes involved a semitrailer that slowed for a combine and was rear-ended. Several secondary crashes followed, resulting in eight damaged vehicles.
Another crash between Buxton and Mayville damaged 14 vehicles, including two semitrailers.
