A Thompson, N.D., man is in critical condition after a vehicle collision Tuesday morning, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.
Joseph Hilliard, 23, was northbound on County Road 6 about 9 a.m. in a 1999 Chevy Blazer and failed to stop at the intersection of 42nd Street South, the patrol said. A 2000 Peterbilt semi-trailer driven by Robby Brown, 38, Grand Forks, struck the passenger side of Hilliard's vehicle, which ended up facing southeast on County Road 6. The Peterbilt wound up in the north ditch facing west.
Hilliard, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital. Brown was wearing a seat belt and was not seriously injured.
The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office and the Thompson Fire Department also responded to the accident, which remains under investigation.
