Charles A. Westlund
Charles "Chuck" Arvid Westlund, 72, of Richland, WA died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at his home.
He was born Dec. 13, 1933 to Arvid L. and Mabel C. (Olson) Westlund in Minneapolis. When he was 7, he moved with his family to Park Rapids. He graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1952. In the fall of 1954, he entered the US Army, serving two years in Zweibrucken, Germany in the medical corps.
He married Barbara B. Dec. 27, 1959. He took over his father's jewelry store in Colorado Springs and even-tually owned two jewelry stores in Colorado Springs. He moved to California where he taught jewelry repair at the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica. He also worked in the missile and nuclear industries. In 1981, they moved to Richland. He was an environmental instructor at Hanford and retired from Westinghouse Hanford in 1995.
He was a member of Richland Lutheran Church; Optimist International (Colorado Springs) club president from 1970 to 1971; Optimist International lieutenant governor for Colorado-Wyoming District from 1971 to 1972; and Kiwanis Tri-Cities Industry Club Rookie of the Year in 1990. He received the Paul Allen Hospice volunteer award in 1996 and the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Meritorious service award in 1999.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Sonja (Darri) Drake and Heidi (Jeff) Dagle; son, Derek (Kelly); three sisters, June Jorgenson of Bigfork MT, Harriet (Solon) Green of Park Rapids and Betty Jorgenson of Woodland Park, CO; brother, Richard L. (Mary Lou) of Colorado Springs; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
