Charles "Charlie" Patrick Jones, 64, of Nevis died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital Palliative Care Center in Fargo.
He was born April 23, 1943 the twin son of Charles E. and Mayvis J. (Abrahamson) Jones. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High. In October 1961, he enlisted in the US Navy. A Vietnam veteran, he served on the USS Midway in Southeast Asia. He was honorably discharged in 1965. He lived in Milpitas, CA where he worked at the Ford Motor Plant.
He married Cheryl Axelson in 1971. In 1974, they moved to the Iron Range and he worked as a welder/fabricator. He moved to Park Rapids and worked at Lamb-Weston/RDO until he retired in 1997. He has been living with his mother and caring for her since 1995.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Akeley. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a past commander of the Akeley VFW and served many years as their bookkeeper.
He is survived by his mother of Nevis; his twin brother, Michael (Carol) of Nevis and brother, Gary (Mary) of Audubon; a sister, Karen (Jon) Rich of Nevis, and several nieces and nephews.

His father preceded him in death in 1994.
Funeral: Tuesday, Jan. 8 at First Lutheran Church in Akeley with Pastor Roger Olson as officiant.
Active casket bearers: Richard, Sam, Johana and Kayla Jones and Robbyn, and Melody Rich.
Military Honors were provided by the All Veterans Ceremonial Burial Team.
Interment: today (Wednesday) at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
