A felony charge against a Lake Park contractor was dismissed last week in Becker County District Court after he reportedly reimbursed the victim fully for his losses.
Brett Douglas Riewer, 37, of 20335 160th Ave., Lake Park, was charged earlier this year with one count of nonpayment for improvements after he failed to pay for materials used in a contracting job.
According to court records, his company, Riewer Construction, was contracted in April of 2010 to put on some siding at the home of a Detroit Lakes resident. The owner paid Riewer $9,550 for the labor and for supplies. The work was completed in May 2010, to the owner's satisfaction.
After the work was done, however, the homeowner was contacted by the company that supplied the building materials, who said that the supplies had never been paid for and a lien would be placed on the property. The owner spent another $3,400 to get the lien removed from his home.
