Chalmers Stout Messner, 92, of Laporte died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Walker.
He was born Aug. 9, 1915 at Danville, OH to Abner and Etta Messner. He attended school in Spencer, OH and was a farmer in Spencer until going into the service during World War II, spending most of his time in Germany and France. After his discharge, he worked at Lodi Lumberyard & Brand Plastics of Medina.
He married Dorothy Wakefield Nov. 17, 1954 in Fort Wayne, IN. In 1970, they moved to Walker and later to Laporte until his stay at Golden Living Center. He worked at Tianna Farms for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Helen of Texas and Diane of South Dakota; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial service: In the spring at Lakeport Cemetery in Laporte.
