Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that on 9-21-2013, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force and Leech Lake Tribal Police in executing a search warrant at a residence in Wilkinson Township. Officers located several items consistent with growing marijuana and marijuana plants. Several pounds of harvested suspected marijuana were located in a sophisticated system drying on the property. Multiple guns were also located and seized. A male, Gregory Benson, age 35, was arrested and transported to the Cass County Detention Center. Formal charges are pending.
The ongoing investigation has currently resulted in locating and seizing approximately 130 large marijuana plants from public land in Leech Lake Township. The investigation continues.
