A Cass County jury convicted Thomas Patrick Sullivan, 58, of Watertown, Minn., Friday of serious felony fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a physically helpless victim.
According to the criminal complaint, a woman reported that on July 25, 2007, she spent the weekend of July 6-8, 2007, at Sullivan's Backus cabin. She reported that after a certain time of the early evening July 7, she had no recollection of events that had taken place. The victim said she is diabetic and must take an injection every night before going to bed. The morning after the sexual assault, she found the unused insulin syringe on the kitchen table, which meant she did not follow her normal routine .
Sullivan's sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 17 in Cass County District Court in Walker.
The maximum sentence for the conviction is 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
