Carl D. Rintamaki, 49, of 1775 Glenwood Lane, Ishpeming Township, MI died Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the Tilden Mine, following an accidental fall at the Mine.

Carl was born Sept. 2, 1956 to Daniel W. and Marilyn A. (Huotari) Rintamaki in Marquette, IA. He was a 1975 graduate of Westwood High School.

He married Lorna M. Savela June 6, 1981 in Minnesota. He had worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. for 27 years, first at the Empire Mine and most recently at the Tilden Mine, mainly as a loader operator and in the Pellet Plant as a utility man. He was a lifelong area resident and member of the Laestadian Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, and the United Steelworkers of America. Carl loved tinkering in his garage at home along with doing some woodworking.

He always enjoyed time spent with his family which includes his wife, Lorna of Ishpeming; four daughters, Lila (Ron) Swan of Glenside, Saskatchewan, Canada, Lena, Kaisa and Tiffany living at home; four sons, Rex of Prescott Valley, AZ, Tyler of Wolf Lake, Kent and Nick both living at home; four grandchildren, Calvin, Alena, Carlton and John Swan; his parents, Daniel & Marilyn Rintamaki of Ishpeming; seven sisters, Cheryl Rintamaki, Lois (Steven) Laiho, Aleta (Mark) Honkala, all of Ishpeming, Cathleen (Kenneth) Sil-jander of Loretto, Corinne (Gene) Fredrickson of Greenfield, Martha (Eric) Rousu of Scottsdale, AZ and Eva (Darren) Moll of Prescott, AZ; five brothers, Edward (Angela) of Spokane, WA, Matthew (Sarah) and Timothy both of Ishpeming, Peter of Anchorage, AK, and Brett (Marita) of Phoenix; mother-in-law Laura Savela of Menahga; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lucy (Roger) Karvonen of Wolf Lake, Jane (Don) Kosola of Menahga, Doug (Karen) Savela, Curt (Dory) Savela, and Natalie (Joe) Hensel, all of Sebeka, Jayson (Amy) Savela of Phoenix, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Curtis.

Funeral: Monday, July 3 at Laestadian Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Thomas Prophet officiating.

Casketbearers: His nephews, Shane Karvonen, Nolan and Tory Fredrickson, Ryan Rintamaki, Evan, Luke, Calder and Taylor Siljander.

Interment: Ishpeming Cemetery.
