Candidate forum for Park Rapids mayor will be Oct. 16 at the Library

The public is welcome to attend and participate in an upcoming candidate forum sponsored by the Park Rapids League of Women Voters, prior to Election Day.
The League is sponsoring this and other candidate forums this fall to educate the public about issues in the campaigns, provide an opportunity for voters to hear candidates discuss those issues face-to-face, stimulate public interest and participation in the elections and provide an opportunity for the candidates to engage their constituents.
The next forum will be for Park Rapids Mayor will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16 in the lower level meeting room of the Park Rapids Area Library. Participants will be Mayor Pat Mikesh and challenger Pam Hauber. Mayors serve two-year terms.
Questions may be submitted at the event. Pencils and paper will be provided or bring your questions with you. League members will collect audience questions to be screened. The names of those who submit questions via e-mail and at the forum will remain confidential.
The audience will be invited to stay for coffee and cookies following the events.
A forum for Menahga School Board will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at the Menahga School Media Center, access from Cedar Avenue SE. Invited to participate are Andrea Haverinen, Ernest Huhta Jr., Jon Kangas and Durwin Tomperi. The public is encouraged to submit questions in advance but no later than noon Tuesday, Oct. 21 to prapidsleague@gmail.com .
A forum for Menahga Mayor will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 at the Menahga School Media Center, with access from Cedar Avenue SE. Invited to participate are Mayor Pat Foss and challenger Jensine Kurtti. The public is encouraged to submit questions in advance but no later than noon Friday, Oct. 24 to prapidsleague@gmail.com .
